According to a report on Fichajes, which claims that Arsenal will demand a fee close to €25 million to sell Jakub Kiwior. The story is a bit baffling considering the defender is already on a loan deal with FC Porto, which has a buy obligation, which brings the fee to the desired number.
Jaokub Kiwior’s recent comments suggested that it was he who insisted on leaving Arsenal rather than Mikel Arteta forcing him out. Signed from Spezia in the January window of 2023, the Polish defender has lived up to his role at the Emirates as a high-quality backup to Gabriel Magalhaes.
Last season, when Gabriel was injured for the final third of the season, Kiwior stepped up in key encounters, particularly in the Champions League. Those displays, especially the ones against Real Madrid, helped him enhance his reputation in the market, which has since earned him a move to FC Porto.
There were many teams interested in Kiwior, although the Polish star chose to join Porto over the others. The deal is a loan with a buy obligation worth €17 million, although the other variables take the fee closer to the €25 million mark.
Now the report bizarrely claims Arsenal will seek €25 million to sell Kiwior, although they have already set the price for the 25-year-old misfit in their loan deal with Porto. Given the level of competition and the Pole’s performances in Portugal since joining the club in the summer, it’s certain that he will make his move to the Portuguese club permanent.
Kiwior was made to wait to complete his move to Porto as Arsenal sought a replacement in the final days of the transfer window. The Gunners ended up signing Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen on loan, although that deal is expected to be made permanent at the end of the season.
Given the addition of the Ecuadorian, as well as the presence of other stars in the backline, Arsenal are well covered in the area that Kiwior departed. The 25-year-old misfit is not expected to return to the London outfit, as his immediate and mid-term future is certainly with Porto.
