Antoine Semenyo has had a sensational start to the new season, and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed. According to a report from Fichajes, Liverpool are keen on acquiring his services, and they are preparing an offer worth around €90 million to sign the Bournemouth mainstay.
After making a name for himself at Bristol City, Semenyo joined the Cherries at the start of 2023 and has only gone from strength to strength since. Andoni Iraola has brought the best out of the Ghanaian international.
Last season, the 25-year-old right winger had 11 goals and six assists in his 37 league outings. He seems set to surpass that tally, having made an exceptional start to the new campaign. In just seven league outings, Semenyo has six goals and three assists.
His performances have played a big part in Bournemouth’s impressive start, as they currently sit fourth in the Premier League. While the Cherries did secure his long-term future with a new deal this summer, they will struggle to hold onto him for long.
The 25-year-old finds himself on the wishlist of Liverpool, who seek more quality in the final third despite having made some significant signings this summer. Semenyo’s strong physical presence, his finishing and positioning are major reasons why the Merseyside club are keen on signing him.
They see him as an ideal long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah. While the Cherries have no intentions of negotiating his departure in the winter, they might not be able to resist strong financial offers in the summer.
Letting him leave will be a significant blow to their sporting project. However, the funds raised could help them bolster their squad as a whole. Bournemouth want around €90 million to let go of one of their mainstay, the price tag could even increase in the future if he continues to perform in a similar fashion.
For now, the Reds seem willing to fork out that big a fee to sign him. The Merseyside club do have an advantage in their pursuit thanks to their strong relationship with the Cherries and their sporting director’s connection with the club.
