According to an update by Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Juanlu Sanchez is the subject of interest of Everton. The Toffees are still keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a right-back next year. So, the 22-year-old Sevilla wide player remains a target for the Merseyside outfit.
However, Everton will face stiff competition for the Spaniard’s signature, with Antonio Conte prioritising signing him for Napoli. Additionally, he is a target for Real Betis and Villarreal. Meanwhile, Sevilla will demand around €20 million to part ways with the youngster.
Juanlu Sanchez has established himself as one of the most promising full-backs in La Liga since breaking into the first-team squad at Sevilla FC. The Montequinto native enjoyed his breakthrough at the Andaluan club a few years ago, and he has not looked back since then. The 22-year-old also won the gold medal with Spain at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Spanish wide player has been a regular for Sevilla in the last two seasons, making nearly 100 appearances thus far for Los Nervionenses while chipping in with six goals and nine assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Everton and Napoli among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
Everton wanted to sign Juanlu Sanchez in the summer transfer window, but the deal did not materialise. The continued interest makes sense, as the Toffees are still scouring the market for a right-back after letting Ashley Young depart as a free agent. Additionally, Seamus Coleman is in the twilight of his career, and Nathan Patterson has struggled with fitness issues at Everton.
While Jake O’Brien has been solid in his outings as a right-back for Everton, he is not a natural fit in the position. So, after failing to sign a right-back in the summer transfer window, the Toffees are eager to rectify that mistake. However, while the Sevilla wide player is a target for Everton, the threat from Napoli remains, with Antonio Conte prioritising signing the 22-year-old Spaniard.
Meanwhile, Sevilla will demand €20 million to part ways with Juanlu next year, making him an affordable target for Everton. It will be interesting to see if the Merseyside club can beat Napoli to the Spanish full-back’s signature in the coming months.
