Sky Germany reports that several top clubs in the Bundesliga are interested in Hertha Berlin defender Linus Gechter.
The 21-year-old’s contract is valid until 2027 in the Hauptstadt, but it is said he is already planning a move as early as this winter; but if that fails to materialise, the defender will look to move next summer.
Gechter is valued at €2.5m by transfermarkt, and he has made 7 appearances this season, with Hertha currently sitting in eighth in the 2.Bundesliga.
Looking at the Bundesliga sides at the upper end of the table that need centre-back options. One that springs to mind is Eintracht Frankfurt. Die Adler are interested in bringing in a centre-back in the winter as defending has been a problem for them in the first quarter of this season. Inter Milan’s Yann-Aurel Bisseck is off interest.
While Stuttgart could also make sense, as it would be a similar move to their acquisition of Finn Jeltsch in January this year, the signing of Gechter could then allow Stuttgart to slowly integrate him into the team before being handed a bigger role in the summer. However, they already have several centre-backs in their squad.
