Manchester United preparing formal bid to sign Victor Froholdt

Manchester United could be preparing a formal bid for FC Porto star Victor Froholdt ahead of the January window to add to their midfield.

According to Fichajes, Manchester United are reportedly preparing a formal bid to test FC Porto’s resolve on Danish midfielder Victor Froholdt. The 19-year-old has a hefty €85 million release clause in his contract, which the Red Devils may need to find a solution to if they are genuinely keen on the 19-year-old.

Manchester United’s priority in the next window is to shape up their midfield setup, as that may be the weakest point of their squad. Having spent a fortune on new attackers, the Red Devils are set to focus on bringing in new midfielders, starting with the January window.

Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton are two targets on their list, but there are big challenges first to match their asking prices, as well as convincing their respective clubs to do business. Theoretically, they could sign both those stars next summer if the chances evaporate in January, but they could dip into the market to reinforce the position in January.

Currently, Manchester United have some key issues in the middle of the park, as Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes are not seen as the ideal partnership for the future. There are concerns over the futures of Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte, with performances more of a factor with the latter.

Hence, there might be a need to bring in a new midfielder, and Manchester United are interested in Victor Froholdt. The FC Porto wonderkid, 19, has made his mark with some accomplished performances for the Portuguese giants, which have put him on the radars of some of the top clubs.

Manchester United are preparing Victor Froholdt bid

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a bid for the midfielder, although his €85 million release clause on a contract until 2030 makes a deal challenging. There is the idea of making an offer based on what the Red Devils value the player at, with the hope of convincing Porto to part ways in January. However, the Portuguese giants will look at the competition with the likes of Tottenham interested and demand a hefty price.

Arsenal are also keen on signing Victor Froholdt, but probably not to an extent that they will end up battling the likes of Manchester United or Tottenham. Hence, the Red Devils could theoretically test FC Porto with a bid of sorts to gauge the probability of getting a deal in place for the €85 million-rated Danish prodigy.
