Marco Ottolini is poised to make an immediate return to Juventus following his recent departure from Genoa, where he served as Sporting Director.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ottolini is the chosen candidate for a key executive position, one that will grant him a far broader mandate than that of a traditional Sporting Director.
Juventus’s search for a new sporting director, which the club’s Head of Football Damien Comolli confirmed was down to a “short list,” has concluded with the selection of a familiar face. Ottolini, who previously worked for the Bianconeri between 2018 and 2022 as a scout specializing in loaned players and club relations, is now set to become a vital “operative arm” of the club’s leadership.
His new role will see him working closely to support both Comolli and Giorgio Chiellini, who is responsible for the club’s overall strategies. Ottolini will operate alongside Technical Director François Modesto, giving him a “privileged vision on the market and recruitment.” This structure positions Ottolini as a crucial link in the chain of command, leveraging his recent experience as a front-line Sporting Director at Genoa, where he worked under a foreign ownership group. His return signals a move by Juventus to strengthen its internal football management team with known and trusted personnel.
