According to Fabrizio Romano via Give Me Sport, Manchester United are interested in the services of Angelo Stiller, but they might have to battle multiple Bundesliga clubs to sign the VfB Stuttgart mainstay in 2026.
While things did not work out for Stiller at Bayern Munich, he made quite a name for himself during his time at TSG Hoffenheim before joining Stuttgart in the summer of 2023. The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has only gone from strength to strength in recent seasons, and his consistent performances have placed him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in the world.
Stiller still has over two years left on his deal, worth £95,000 per week including bonuses. However, that does not guarantee his continuity at VfB Stuttgart, given the number of clubs that are after him. The German international is also reportedly ready to join a bigger club next summer.
Meanwhile, there are clubs that could try to secure his services in January. However, Stuttgart are unlikely to sanction his departure. He does have a bargain release clause, but the German club can buy it out for just £1.7 million.
Any potential deal for the 24-year-old, even in the summer, might require a fee in the region of £53 million. Manchester United have emerged as a potential destination for the German midfielder. Having significantly bolstered their attack in the last transfer window, the Red Devils now want to strengthen their midfield.
With Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo’s long-term futures uncertain and Manuel Ugarte not living up to expectations, Manchester United want a world-class holding midfielder, and Stiller is quite high on their wishlist.
His composure on the ball, reliability in possession and vision make him just the perfect fit for Ruben Amorim’s system. Jason Wilcox is believed to have been monitoring the 24-year-old for some time now, and they could soon make a move. However, the Red Devils could face significant competition in their pursuit.
While speaking about Stiller’s future, Romano said, “There are German clubs keen on Stiller but, at the moment, nothing is concrete and they are just tracking the player. He is good in possession, has good vision and is consistent, so he could be the kind of player needed by Manchester United.”
Stiller is an ideal fit for Manchester United, but they could face stiff competition from German clubs. Multiple Bundesliga outfits are closely monitoring him and could make a move to secure his services. While the opportunity to continue in his homeland could tempt him, the final decision will certainly be that of the player.
