West Ham United fall behind Lyonin race to sign Endrick

Lyon have taken the front seat in the chase of Endrick, which could see West Ham United lose hope in pursuit of the Real Madrid forward.

According to Football Insider, West Ham United could fall behind Lyon in the race for Endrick ahead of the January window. The French giants have opened talks with Real Madrid and the player’s camp over a potential move in the winter window, as the hammers could be forced to look elsewhere to solve their centre-forward issues.

West Ham were one of the first names being linked with a move for 19-year-old Real Madrid wonderkid Endrick a few weeks back. The Hammers are facing problems in the centre-forward areas, as their two senior options in Niklas Fullkrug and Callum Wilson, have produced a combined total of one goal this season in the Premier League.

They are keen to add another striker in the January window to solve their problems up front, as they had set their sights on Endrick as an option. Some quarters have suggested the 19-year-old Real Madrid wonderkid could be expensive for the Hammers, but there’s still every chance they could tie up a move.

The Hammers are not alone in the chase, as now they could be dealt a big blow due to Lyon’s interest in the forward. As the report states, the French side have taken the lead in the chase, which was also reported by Fabrizio Romano a few days prior.

Lyon have opened talks over a move in January, while they have opened talks with Real Madrid as well as the player over the switch. For now, the French giants are in front of the queue, which could force the Hammers to look elsewhere to solve their centre-forward issues.

West Ham assessing fresh options

There have been a few names mentioned as potential options for West Ham, including Joshua Zirkzee. Manchester United are yet to green-light the Dutchman’s departure, which would keep the Hammers guessing on whether they could sign him.

Flamengo striker Pedro was linked lately, as the Hammers could look at him as someone with experience to add goals to the side. Hence, with the Endrick situation, West Ham could keep their options open in terms of their striker search, as the club are determined to bring in a new name in January.
