Daniele de Rossi favourite to become next Genoa manager

Genoa is closing in on a crucial decision for their managerial future. Following the separation from Patrick Vieira—and a brief, interim spell with Criscito and Murgita in the dugout—the Grifone management is holding a final round of internal talks before naming the new permanent boss.

According to transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, the club’s leadership is expected to finalize the choice between the late afternoon and evening of Tuesday, November 4th. The clear favorite emerging from the discussions is none other than Italian football icon Daniele De Rossi.

The former Roma legend is reported to be in the lead for the coveted position, with Genoa seemingly keen to appoint a high-profile, passionate coach to ignite the squad. De Rossi’s immediate task would be monumental: taking charge of training as early as Wednesday, November 5th, to prepare the squad for the upcoming Serie A clash against Fiorentina. The club wants the new manager in place before the looming international break.

The alternative candidate, Paolo Vanoli, remains a serious option but is currently described as being more hesitant about accepting the role at the historic club. All signs point to a major announcement soon, with the World Cup winner ready to take on one of the most demanding benches in Italy.
