According to a report from L’Équipe, Olympique Lyonnais would like to extend Paulo Fonseca’s time in charge at the club and offer him a new contract. The former Lille head coach’s current contract at the Groupama Stadium is set to expire in 2027.
Fonseca has had a tumultuous time since he arrived in the Rhône region of France to take charge at Les Gones. The Portuguese manager found himself on the end of a 9-month domestic ban following an altercation with a referee. However, despite those difficulties, results have been impressive given Lyon’s financial context.
Despite OL’s desire to offer the former AC Milan head coach a new contract to extend his stay, no negotiations have yet been opened regarding a new deal. With over a year left on his current contract, the matter is not seen as urgent, but plans exist internally to eventually discuss a deal with the manager.
