PIF-funded Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihhad has reached a €33m agreement with AS Monaco to sign striker George Ilenikhena (19), according to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins. Talks are reportedly underway between Ilenikhena and the Saudi outfit over finding an agreement on personal terms.
Al-Ittihad are in the market for a centre-forward due to the uncertainty surrounding 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema. The former Real Madrid striker is expected to leave the Jeddah-based SPL club over a disagreement regarding Al-Ittihad’s contractual renewal offer.
Ilenikhena joined AS Monaco 18 months ago from Royal Antwerp in a reported €17m transfer fee, which is nearly half of Al-Ittihad’s proposal despite Ilenikhena scoring only ten goals in 51 games with the Principality club.
