According to a report by TEAMtalk, Dwight McNeil is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles have been eager to reinforce their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in the final hours of the winter transfer window. So, the 26-year-old Everton winger has emerged as a target for the South London outfit.
However, Crystal Palace’s bid to sign the Englishman has failed to convince the Merseyside outfit to sanction a departure. While the Toffees are open to parting ways with McNeil in the winter transfer window, they will only sanction a sale if they receive a proposal worth around £20 million.
Dwight McNeil has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Everton from Burnley in July 2022. While the 26-year-old was solid under Sean Dyche and secured regular game time in his first few seasons with the Toffees, he has been a rotation player since David Moyes returned to the Merseyside club.
The English winger has managed only 963 minutes of game time in 18 appearances across all competitions. However, McNeil’s stock remains high, and a move across the Premier League may be on the cards, with Crystal Palace among the prospective suitors vying for his signature on the final day of the winter transfer window.
Crystal Palace’s interest in Dwight McNeil is understandable. The Eagles have bolstered their offensive unit by signing Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur in the winter transfer window. Additionally, Jorgen Strand Larsen is closing in on arriving from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
However, Oliver Glasner wants more firepower in the final third, compelling Crystal Palace to return to the market for a versatile attacker. McNeil has thus emerged as a viable target for the South London club, and they have submitted a bid to sign the 26-year-old Englishman from Everton.
However, the Toffees have rejected Crystal Palace’s proposal, as they want around £20 million. Everton will not stop McNeil from departing from the Hill Dickinson Stadium on the final day of the winter transfer window, as they are closing in on signing Tyrique George from Chelsea. It will be interesting to see if the Eagles return with an improved bid to sign the £20 million-rated English winger.
