Liverpool have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Stade Rennais for the transfer of France U21 international centre-back Jérémy Jacquet (20), who will join the Premier League champions on July 1st. The move remains subject to a work permit and international clearance.
Rennes are set to earn a club-record €72m transfer fee from the sale of Jacquet, who will therefore spend the remainder of the Ligue 1 campaign with his formative side. Jacquet underwent his medical on Merseyside on Monday.
In a statement released by Stade Rennais, Jacquet said that he was “honored to have signed for Liverpool, one of the greatest football institutions in the world.” The centre-back adds that it was very important to him to finish his journey with Les Rouge et Noir on a high. “I’ll tackle this second part of the season with the will to experience beautiful moments with my teammantes and the fans.”
