RC Lens forward Odsonne Édouard has said that the club are “well placed” to fight for the title in Ligue 1. It comes after a 5-0 win over Paris FC on Saturday sent them back to the top of the league.
Stade Rennais’ 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain on Friday gave Les Sang et Or the chance to go back top. It is a chance that they took in emphatic style. It sees Pierre Sage’s side leapfrog PSG and go one point clear at the top, heading into matchday 23 of 34.
Sage has remained coy when broaching the topic of a title challenge, stating that their focus is more on building a gap to Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais. It is clear that his focus is on securing a place on the podium and therefore on a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
But Édouard has not shied away from admitting the club’s ambition. “We are in a good position to fight for the title. We are not going to hide it. We are competitors. We will go until the end,” said the former Crystal Palace forward on Ligue 1 Plus on Sunday night.
