OGC Nice have received a blow with Elye Wahi (23) ruled out for several weeks with a serious ankle sprain, according to a report from Nice-Matin.
Wahi signed for Nice in January, joining on a loan deal from Eintracht Frankfurt. The former Montpellier HSC, RC Lens, and Olympique de Marseille forward arrived looking to get his career back on-track, having featured infrequently since making the move to Germany the previous winter.
His loan spell at the Allianz Riviera had got off to a good start, netting three goals in five games in Ligue 1 prior to Sunday’s game against Olympique Lyonnais. However, Wahi suffered an injury within 10 seconds of the game against Lyon, when he attempted to block a ball from close range.
The impact caused the ankle to twist and Nice-Matin now report that the striker has suffered a serious sprain. The player’s ligaments are affected. He will now be absent for several weeks.
