Juventus Planning Shore Up Their Core with a Few Coups

Juventus are set for a busy final stretch of the season between the heated UEFA Champions League race and the preparations for the summer. Their brass is plotting to make only a few select top-notch additions and build around the current backbone of the team, Calciomercato reports.

Kenan Yildiz’s recent renewal removes any concern on that front. The officials are trying to do the same with Weston McKennie, but the parties aren’t close yet. The midfielder has put the matter on the back burner to focus on the matches. The other pillars will be Gleison Bremer, Pierre Kalulu, Khephren Thuram, and Manuel Locatelli.

The only one on whom there could be some doubts is the former Torino star. He might fetch large offers now that he’s completely healthy. However, Juventus would consider his sale only for offers north of €70M and if he asked out. He makes €5M per year, so the front office has some room to raise his salary if needed.

The Bianconeri will primarily search for a new goalie, a prolific no.9, as Dusan Vlahovic is unlikely to stay, and a proper ‘regista.’ Per Mediaset, they continue to covet Sandro Tonali, who might leave Newcastle United if they don’t qualify for the top continental competition. However, his price tag is mammoth, as the Magpies demand €100M. Arsenal will be a serious threat in the summer after making an attempt in January.

Our Take on Juventus

They are in a pickle, as they are not quite good enough to compete for the Scudetto, but they’ll also need big investments to upgrade on a few of their current contributors. Among the UCL contenders, they need to make it the most.
