Atletico Madrid interested in summer move Nicolas Jackson

Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich.

Nicolas Jackson’s future has become an interesting talking point as he looks set to return to his parent club at the end of the season. While German giants Bayern Munich do have a buy option in his loan deal, they are unlikely to trigger it.

A return to Stamford Bridge is on the cards, but he might not have a future there, and according to a report from Fichajes, Atletico Madrid are looking to make the most out of it. Diego Simeone’s team are interested in signing the Senegalese international this summer.

Enzo Maresca wasn’t pleased with his output; as a result, he ended up signing Liam Delap and Joao Pedro in the summer. Since Jackson was unlikely to get much game time, the 24-year-old ended up pushing for a move away. He was on the verge of joining Bayern Munich on loan, but an injury to Delap caused a lot of trouble.

Eventually, he did end up joining the German outfit, but they were forced to pay a higher loan fee. Bayern do have a buy option, but they are unlikely to use it as he has failed to have the desired impact. Jackson hasn’t managed to establish himself as a key figure in Vincent Kompany’s team and has only had 641 minutes of first-team action so far.

Atletico could make a move for Jackson

While he is set to return to Chelsea, his representatives are already exploring a move away, and Atletico Madrid have emerged as a potential destination. With star forward Julian Alvarez constantly being linked with a move away, the Spanish club’s sporting directors are looking for potential replacements.

Despite his recent struggles, they seem to rate Jackson quite highly, and given his past track record in Spain, they are willing to bet on him. The player wants to secure a return to Spain, and he would absolutely love the chance to join one of the biggest teams in the country.

Simeone believes he is an ideal fit for his system and is pushing for the move. While Jackson hasn’t been at his best for a while, Chelsea still want at least €40 million. Representatives of the Spanish club are in constant contact with the Senegalese forward’s entourage, which suggests there are high chances of the move actually going through.
