Inter Leading the Race to Capture Sassuolo Defender

Inter have been eyeing Tarik Muharemovic for a while and have stepped up their pursuit in recent days. Juventus are owed 50 percent of the income and would have an advantage if they decided to bring him back. However, the Nerazzurri have been chasing after him with more urgency, Matteo Moretto reports (via SOSFanta).

As a matter of fact, they have sent a verbal proposal to his agent to start negotiating his wages. They have also opened talks with Sassuolo. The Serie A leaders are likely to move on from at least one between Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij. They were both linked to a move to Saudi Arabia to reunite with Simone Inzaghi as part of the deal that would have seen Joao Cancelo return to San Siro.

Muharemovic has some suitors abroad as well, but Inter are the frontrunners. Sassuolo won’t stand in the way of a youngster transferring to a top team, but they’ll ask for a respectable fee.

The 22-year-old joined the Juventus academy from Wolfsberger in 2022. He eventually moved to the Neroverdi for €3M plus future clauses after a couple of seasons with the Next Gen squad. He quickly became a pillar in Serie B last year and continued to improve after the promotion.

Our Take on Inter and Muharemovic

He’ll need some work to fit into a three-man line, but he has all the right traits for a modern defender, as he’s big but mobile and can handle the ball. It doesn’t hurt that he’s left-footed and that they’d be able to ease him into the rotation, as they have their three starters in place, should they retain Manuel Akanji.
