Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes has had a difficult season at the Bernabeu, and it has come to a premature end. The Brazilian is set to be ruled out for significant time after a knee injury was diagnosed in the aftermath of Los Blancos’ 1-0 defeat to Getafe on Monday night.
Rodrygo was returning from five games out of action with tendonitis, and came on after 55 minutes as Real Madrid sought an equaliser against Los Azulones. The Brazilian came as close as any of his teammates to doing so, but finished the match with pain in his knee. Following an initial examination in the dressing room, Rodrygo was sent home, and underwent further tests at Valdebebas on Tuesday.
The crushing news for Rodrygo is not just that he will be ruled out for the remaining three months of the club season with Real Madrid, but also the World Cup with Brazil. Marca say that his cruciate ligament has been affected, and he will need surgery to address the issue.
