According to Sports Boom, Chemsdine Talbi is attracting significant interest in the market as Aston Villa are keen, but controversially enough, Newcastle United too. Whether Sunderland sells to their cross-town rivals remains the question, but a big bid from the Villans could turn the tide.
Sunderland made some impressive work in the transfer market when they made their return to the Premier League. The decision to spend big has worked out with the primary objective leaning towards staying alive in the Premier League, but Regis Le Bris’ side have done exceptionally well so far.
The Black Cats are comfortably sitting in a mid-table position, as a late push for a European place is still on the cards. One of their signings from the close season, Chemsdine Talbi, reportedly attracted some criticisms from the board following their outlay on the young Moroccan to sign him from Belgian side Club Brugge.
Meanwhile, Talbi has been instrumental in their attacking setup, scoring three goals and assisting twice this season in the league. His performances from a wide area have prompted interest from Premier League rivals, as Aston Villa and, controversially enough, Newcastle United are keen. Sunderland, for their part, reportedly value the winger at around €45–55 million, which may not be an issue for the interested clubs.
The Magpies are keen on a versatile wide attacker who could potentially play on both sides, as Talbi surely fits that criterion. A right-footed winger, the €45–55 million-rated player can also operate on the other flank as well as through the middle, as Eddie Howe could see the value in spending big on the Sunderland star.
Aston Villa are also keen on refreshing their attacking setup to a degree. They might not end up signing Jadon Sancho permanently, as the €45–55 million-rated winger could be seen as a replacement for the Manchester United star.
As for Sunderland, they might consider a big offer for Talbi, but from a long-term perspective, they clearly invested the sums in the Moroccan for the future. Concerning the interest from Newcastle United, Sunderland are not expected to entertain offers from their neighbours, although Aston Villa could have a shot.
