UCL Qualification Crucial for Roma and Juventus Plans

Juventus stayed alive in the UEFA Champions League race thanks to a late comeback in last week’s clash with Roma. The scrum also involves Como, which have one more point than the Bianconeri, and Atalanta, which are not far behind in seventh place.

Cracking the top four will make all the difference in the summer, but the two sides would have different approaches to compensate if they didn’t. According to Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi would likely cash in on one or two of their most profitable players to finance their additions. Mile Svilar and Evan N’Dicka would yield massive ‘plusvalenze,’ as they came in for free. The capital club would also easily be able to turn a big profit on Wesley, Matias Soulé, and Manu Koné.

While Roma would have to sell some of their own to reload and abide by the Financial Fair Play, Juventus would have no shot of landing some of the big-ticket targets they are eyeing, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

The Sandro Tonali coup is already difficult as is, even more so without the €60/70M income generated by the qualification. Bernardo Silva and Leon Goretzka are unlikely to join teams that don’t play in the top continental competition. The final position could also swing the Marcos Senesi race.

Our Take on Roma and Juventus

The best-case scenario would be the Giallorossi earning their way in by winning the UEFA Europa League, which isn’t far-fetched. The Old Lady has somehow put a spell on the whole Serie A, as they haven’t missed out in ages, if not when they were docked points. They’d be the least deserving among the contenders, in terms of performance-level relative to expectations and potential.
