Pervis Estupinan after Milan derby win: “Most important goal of my career”

Milan picked up a 1-0 win over Inter in the Serie A, thanks to a first-half goal from an unlikely source in Pervis Estupinan. The left-back has described it as the most important goal of his career.

Inter did have chances of their own in the second half but they could never really take it, mirroring how their season has been when it comes to ties against the big sides. Milan dug deep and fought hard to keep all three points, cutting the gap at the bottom to seven points.

Estupinan has had a difficult few months at Milan and was, at one point, displaced by Davide Bartesaghi. He spoke to DAZN about the tie and was overjoyed.

The Ecuadorian said: “Yes, it’s the most important goal of my career. We worked hard this week, and this is the result.”

Estupinan revealed Max Allegri’s specific instruction to attack the spaces and it paid off.

“We worked hard on it all week, the coach told me to attack and I found the right moment.”

Milan’s next game sees them take on Lazio, which could be another tricky encounter, with Inter also facing some difficult fixtures in the next few weeks.
