Leandro Trossard’s future has become an interesting talking point. The Belgian forward will only have a year left on his deal in the summer, and he could be on the move, as Arsenal look to revamp their attack.
According to a report from SportsBoom, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are both keen on Trossard’s signature and could be involved in an intense transfer battle.
The 31-year-old winger made a name for himself while playing for Brighton, and on the back of his impressive performances, he earned a move to Arsenal at the start of 2023. While he has never really been a regular starter for Mikel Arteta’s team, Trossard has certainly been a very valuable member of his squad.
The majority of his appearances have come out wide on the left flank, but Arteta has also asked him to chip in as a striker or a false nine at times. Over the years, he has been involved in 162 matches for the Gunners and has contributed towards 66 goals.
He is enjoying another impressive campaign in North London with 15 goal contributions in his 38 outings. While he remains an integral part of their plans, his future is up in the air with his contract running out in 2027. The Gunners could look to cash in on him in the summer, as they plan to bring in a world-class winger.
Many top clubs are interested in his services and are keeping tabs on his situation. They are waiting for an opportunity to make a move for the 31-year-old, who still has a few years left at the highest level.
Newcastle and Aston Villa view his profile as a massive opportunity because of the amount of experience he has and the fact that he is a proven Premier League star. The Magpies want more depth and quality in the final third and believe Trossard could be a valuable addition to their squad.
Meanwhile, Villa believe he could easily slot into Unai Emery’s flexible system. The Spanish manager prefers having versatile players in his ranks, and he would love to work with a tactically intelligent attacker like Trossard.
The Belgian could be interested in a move away, as it would give him the opportunity to have a more prominent role, something he hasn’t had since moving to Arsenal, despite his impact. A potential transfer could cost around £20m–£25 million, while the 31-year-old, who currently earns £90,000 per week, seeks a package of in excess of £130,000 per week.
