Juventus have tested the waters for Robert Lewandowski, but his arrival in Turin is improbable. The legendary center-forward recently admitted that he’s undecided about whether to stay at Barcelona or head elsewhere, and if so, where.
According to Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano (via SOSFanta), the Bianconeri reached out to the entourage of the Polish talisman. On the other hand, signing him is almost impossible for them, not only due to his demands, but also because he might make a different life choice in the twilight of his career.
Juventus inquired about Lewandowski, as their current plan is to re-up with Dusan Vlahovic and add another strong striker who would alternate with the Serb. Per TuttoSport, the Old Lady isn’t in advanced talks with any other side. Their brass is offering a shorter, less lucrative contract than Kenan Yildiz’s recent four-year deal.
If the plan comes to fruition, it would leave Jonathan David and Lois Openda on the outside looking in. The Canadian striker could draw interest from Olympique Lyonnais. They are coached by Paulo Fonseca, under whom he scored in droves at Lille. Instead, the Belgian international is wanted by Fenerbahce, eyeing a reunion with his former boss Domenico Tedesco. On the other hand, last summer’s €44M valuation is a massive burden.
It’s not too surprising that they poked around, as they are seemingly tracking every free agent to have more ammo for other signings. He’d be a great patch for a season or two. However, they have no shot if he’s thinking about moving to Saudi Arabia or the MLS for a final payday.
