‘Naturally, there’s a lot of disappointment’ – Florian Thauvin reflects on Lens’s loss to Lorient

RC Lens’s title challenge took a hit on Saturday afternoon when they fell to a 2-1 defeat to FC Lorient. The match was billed as an opportunity for Lens to leapfrog Paris Saint-Germain into first place, with the league leaders out of action for the weekend after their match against FC Nantes was rescheduled.

Florian Thauvin (33) couldn’t hide his disappointment with the club’s latest setback, as he told beIN Sports in his post-match comments, “We tried, but we conceded two goals. We’ve been conceding a lot of goals lately, from the forwards to the defence; it’s everyone… Naturally, there’s a lot of disappointment.”

After Olympique de Marseille ended a run of eight league wins in a row in January, poor results have increasingly begun to creep into Lens’s oeuvre, with a defeat to AS Monaco on the 21st of February and a draw to RC Strasbourg Alsace the following weekend on the 27th of February.

Thauvin added, “We’ll prepare well before our last match before the international break, and we’ll take responsibility, as we always have.” Lens host Angers SCO on Friday evening before they return to action with the derby against Lille OSC on the 4th of April.
