Milan Plot to Reward Improving Defensive Stalwart

Milan are working to shore up their defense, but they also plan to remove any concern about the future of some of their own and plan to lock down Strahinja Pavlovic. The Serbian center-back needed some time to adjust to Serie A after a so-so impact amid the team’s confusing state at the time. Instead, he’s been a fixture and certainty under Massimiliano Allegri.

According to Calciomercato, the Rossoneri have started discussing an extension. He’s currently tied to them until 2028, plus a team option. The potential new deal could run until 2031. The parties will haggle on the salary. His status improved since he came in with a €1.7M salary.

Milan are plotting to hand Pavlovic a pay bump of at least €2.5M to quickly quash the burgeoning interest from the Premier League. The 24-year-old was signed from RB Salzburg for €18.5M in 2024 and has racked up 64 appearances at San Siro. He has scored three goals, which doesn’t hurt.

The Rossoneri are also in advanced talks with Fikayo Tomori, who’s been steady as well this year after coming under scrutiny in the past because of his up-and-down showings.

As for their prospective signings, Massimiliano Allegri might have suggested Kim Min-Jae, but he’s a very complicated target. He’d have to reduce his salary to €7M or so, and his price tag would have to be less than €30M.

Our Take on Milan and Pavlovic

Youngsters from other leagues often just need time, and he makes a lot more sense in a three-man line thanks to his skill set. He wasn’t really a candidate, but it’ll be interesting to see who’d be the choice if they searched for a big ‘plusvalenza.’
