Pedro Neto (26) has avoided a suspension for his push on a ballboy during last Wednesday’s 5-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. As a result, the Chelsea winger is available for selection for the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
The altercation happened late in the game last week. With Chelsea looking for a way back into the match, Neto was keen to restart play quickly and pushed the ballboy in order to recover the ball. The ballboy went down clutching his face.
Neto quickly apologised and then reiterated his apology publicly post-match. The Portugal international avoided a sanction from the referee, although UEFA confirmed that they were investigating the incident. He could have picked up a one-game ban for unsporting behaviour, but he has avoided any punishment for the incident. As a result, Neto will be available to face PSG again on Tuesday night as the Premier League side look to overturn a three-goal deficit.
