Andrew Robertson addresses speculation on Liverpool future

Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson has been linked with a move away from the Merseyside club in recent months.

Andrew Robertson was heavily linked with an exit during the January transfer window, but he ended up staying. The Scottish international is being linked with an exit once again, and the player was questioned about his future at the club during the pre-match presser ahead of the clash against Galatasaray.

Liverpool will take on the Turkish outfit at home this week, aiming to overturn the deficit from the first leg and book their place in the next round of the competition. Robertson refused to answer questions about his future before the game and suggested he is not worried about it, and that he is focused on the massive game at hand.

He told , “I don’t think today is the day to discuss that,” Robertson responded, before adding, “24 hours before a massive Champions League game, I don’t think anyone should be talking about their future.

“We’ve got such a massive game ahead of us. My full focus, being a part of this team, is to try and get through tomorrow. We gave ourselves an uphill battle, and I think full focus has to be on. There will be time to talk about my future, but today is not that day.”

Robertson has been an exceptional servant for Liverpool since joining the club, and they should look to keep him at the club for now. Even though the Premier League champions have signed Milos Kerkez, the Hungarian defender is quite young, and he needs experience around him. The Scottish international could be the ideal mentor for the young defender.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can convince Robertson to continue at the club beyond this season. They might have to provide him with gametime assurance in order for that to happen. Robertson will not want to sit on the bench every week.

He is in the twilight of his career and will look to play more often. It remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few weeks, as suitors, including Celtic, continue to line up for his signature.
