Barcelona, Real Madrid & Atlético learn UCL quarter-final opponents

Spanish football’s three biggest clubs have on Wednesday evening learned their respective opponents for the next round of the Champions League.

This of course comes with the competition’s Last-16 ties having now officially come to a close.

Real Madrid were the first of the La Liga sides to ensure their advancement to the final eight, courtesy of a 5-1 aggregate drubbing of Manchester City.

This was then followed by Barcelona running riot at the expense of Newcastle United earlier this evening, before Atlético Madrid got the job done against Premier League strugglers Tottenham Hotspur, too.

So, what next for the three heavyweights of Spanish football?

Two have been pitted against one another, with Barca and Atlético set to go toe-to-toe in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have been tasked with a high-profile tie of their own, primed to renew their historic rivalry with German champions Bayern Munich.
