Juventus versatile defender Pierre Kalulu (25) is one of of the players that France national team manager Didier Deschamps could call up tomorrow for Les Bleus’ US tour in late March, according to L’Equipe. Deschamps will announce on Thursday in the afternoon his squad for France’s two friendly games against Brazil and Colombia, which are set to be held on the Eastern seaboard.
There is currently a shortage of right-backs for France with Barcelona’s Jules Koundé (27) out of action until April. Chelsea’s Malo Gusto (22) is expected to get the call from Deschamps, although he played no part in the Blues’ 3-0 home loss to PSG in the Champions League knockout phase through illness.
In those circumstances, L’Equipe understands that Kalulu could earn a senior France recall to fill in at right-back. The outlet adds that the Juventus defender’s versatility and his status as a starter in a major European club are greatly valued. Kalulu only featured once for Les Bleus and it was a game to forget for him as he put in a catastrophic performance during France’s gung-ho 5-4 loss to Spain in the 2025 Nations League semi-finals.
