Sky Germany reports that the Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck is leaning towards staying at the club.
The middle of March was expected to be the time that the 26-year-old would make a decision on his future at the Signal Iduna Park, and on Monday, there were further talks between the club and player. While no breakthrough was made, there were positive signals for Dortmund.
The recent developments at Brackel have appealed to Schlotterbeck, such as the extension of Felix Nmecha, as well as the decision not to renew the contracts of Niklas Süle, Julian Brandt and Salih Özcan and the proposed switch in system to one with a focus on wingers.
While the current tendency is that the centre-back will extend his contract, the final details of a new deal still need to be clarified, such as the release clause.
The 26-year-old is expected to become one of the highest earners at the club.
