Tottenham lead race to sign Georges Mikautadze, prepare bid

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old Georgian international Georges Mikautadze from La Liga club Villarreal in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Georges Mikautadze is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are eager to reinforce their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 25-year-old Villarreal centre-forward has emerged as a target for the North London outfit.

Several other clubs are also keen on signing the Lyon native in the summer transfer window. However, the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners are in pole position to sign Mikautadze from Villarreal, and they are preparing a bid worth €60 million to secure his services in the coming months.

How has Georges Mikautadze fared in La Liga?

Georges Mikautadze has made significant progress since joining Villarreal from Lyon last summer. The 26-year-old striker spent his formative years in France, passing through the academies at FC Gerland, Lyon, and AS Saint-Priest before graduating from the youth division at FC Metz.

The player rose in prominence during his spell with FC Metz and the loan stint with Ajax before making his mark in the 2024/25 season. Mikautadze has been solid thus far for Villarreal, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in 36 appearances. Meanwhile, the Georgian striker’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur.

London calling?

Georges Mikautadze has been on Tottenham Hotspur’s wishlist for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, as the Lilywhites are scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window. Dominic Solanke has struggled to stamp his authority since arriving from Bournemouth over 18 months ago.

Additionally, Randal Kolo Muani is unlikely to complete a permanent move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window. Several candidates, including Arnaud Kalimuendo, have thus emerged on the North London club’s wishlist, with Mikautadze also a viable target.

The latest report has revealed that the struggling Premier League giants are preparing a bid worth €60 million to sign the 25-year-old Georgian international in the summer transfer window. With Tottenham leading the race to sign Mikautadze, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.
