While Arne Slot had a sensational first season at Liverpool after taking over from Jurgen Klopp, the Dutch manager has failed to live up to the expectations this time around. As a result, his future has been up in the air for months.
According to a report from Soccernews, a German club is now after the signature of the former Feyenoord boss. They have already enquired about the availability of the 47-year-old, who has been under fire to save his job at Anfield.
Slot made quite a name for himself while managing Feyenoord. On the back of his impressive work at the Eredivisie club, Liverpool chose him to take Klopp’s place on their bench, after the German manager decided to take a break from management.
The Dutch manager was off to a flying start, and he ended up guiding them to the Premier League title in his very first season. On the back of it, the board decided to back him in the last summer transfer window. The Reds ended up forking out a fortune (close to €500 million) to bolster their squad.
However, things haven’t really worked out for him this season. The Merseyside club have lost 15 out of their 47 matches, winning just 25 of those encounters. They are already out of the title race, and it has resulted in a lot of speculation about his future at the club.
While they remain in the hunt for the FA Cup and the Champions League, winning those cups won’t be easy for a side that has been inconsistent throughout. If Liverpool end the season without any silverware, the Dutch manager could be shown the exit door.
If the Reds do decide to move on from him, there certainly won’t be any shortage of takers. The report suggests there is tentative interest in his services from the Bundesliga. There is a club in the German top flight that are very eager to have him on their bench.
They have already made an approach for the Dutch manager. While the club is not yet known, it could be Bayern Munich if Vincent Kompany return to Manchester City to take over from Pep Guardiola.
