David Moyes wants Tomas Soucek reunion at Everton this summer

David Moyes reportedly wants Everton to sign 88-cap Czech Republic international Tomas Soucek from West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Football Insider, long-serving West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a versatile midfielder ahead of the 2026/27 season.

David Moyes is the driving force behind Everton’s move for the Czech midfielder, as he wants to reunite with him at Bramley-Moore Dock this summer. However, a deal may not materialise, as the Merseyside club’s decision-makers “could opt to pursue bigger-name targets if they secure European qualification” at the end of the ongoing campaign.

How has Tomas Soucek fared at West Ham United?

Tomas Soucek has been one of the most reliable midfielders in the Premier League since joining West Ham United from Slavia Praha. The East London club initially signed the Havlickuv Brod native on loan in January 2020 before completing a permanent move in the subsequent summer transfer window.

The 31-year-old has been a regular for West Ham in the last half a dozen years, making over 250 appearances thus far while chipping in with 46 goals and 13 assists. Soucek’s instincts to chip in with crucial goals have made him an asset, and his exploits have piqued the attention of several well-known clubs, with Everton among his prospective suitors this year.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Everton mulled over signing Tomas Soucek last year, but a deal did not materialise. The continued interest is understandable, as the Toffees are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. With Idrissa Gueye in the twilight of his career, Everton must sign a long-term replacement for the Senegalese international.

Additionally, Merlin Rohl has struggled to make his mark since joining Everton from SC Freiburg last summer. Several candidates have thus emerged on the Merseyside club’s wishlist, with Soucek also a viable target. The 88-cap Czech Republic international’s extensive Premier League experience makes him an appealing target, as he can hit the ground running at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Meanwhile, David Moyes has been eager to reunite with Soucek at Everton for a long time. However, with the Toffees considering signing a more high-profile player if they secure European qualification, a reunion with the 31-year-old West Ham midfielder may not be on the cards.
