According to Football Insider, Tottenham and Igor Tudor are seemingly on the verge of parting ways in the coming days. The short stint for the Croatian has not worked out in north London, as Spurs are closer than ever to the relegation zone, with another short-term replacement potentially being lined up.
There are lingering questions over whether Tottenham made a grave mistake by sacking the underperforming Thomas Frank at the wrong time. From a sporting perspective, they might justify the call to fire the Dane, but now in hindsight, the former Brentford man could have done a better job at helping the team stay out of the relegation zone.
Igor Tudor was appointed on an interim basis until the end of the season, and the Croatian manager has yet to taste victory in the Premier League. One point in his five games in charge, which also includes four defeats, has further drawn Spurs closer to the relegation zone.
Last weekend’s loss to direct relegation rivals Nottingham Forest has left Tottenham in 17th spot, as they sit just a point above West Ham United in 18th place. There are growing worries that Spurs might actually go down, which has led to the club considering sacking Tudor in the coming days.
It appears the club and Tudor could part ways by mutual consent, with the club then likely to find another short-term manager to lead the team until the end of the season. With Tottenham not playing in the FA Cup, they will only play football in two weeks, which theoretically gives the club plenty of time to find a replacement.
A host of names are already being sounded out, including Roberto De Zerbi and former Monaco manager Adi Hutter. The former is not eager to take on the role just yet, while Sean Dyche was also mentioned a while back, as well as former player Ryan Mason.
It is difficult to convince managers to take on a sinking ship like Tottenham, although the club will hope to find a solution before making their decision on Tudor’s immediate future. At the moment, all fingers point towards the Croatian’s imminent departure.
