“There will be conquences” – Romelu Lukaku warned about Napoli rift

Serie A side Napoli have witnessed Romelu Lukaku not train with the first-team despite apparently being fit.

The striker was in Belgium for many days and was not responding to the Partenopei calls, only communicating through his agent. He did release a statement about an extended lay-off due to another injury but that did little to calm the storm in Naples.

Lukaku is soon expected to return to the first team fold but Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has spoken about his situation.

The Italian told DAZN that actions will be taken against the striker. He said – via TMW: “The situation is absolutely clear to me. Romelu was supposed to go to the national team, but he stayed in Belgium to train against our wishes. We wanted to discuss it here in Naples.

Detailing the situation further, Manna said he hopes Lukaku will be back in a week’s time but the player will face consequences.

“It didn’t happen, and we’re not happy, but respect for the group is more important than anything. I hope he’ll be back in a week, and there will be consequences, but football goes on, and Giovane is playing today.”

Antonio Conte showed no hesitation is starting Giovane in a false nine role against Milan, showing that life will go in Naples with or without Lukaku.
