According to a report from Football Insider, Kieran Trippier, who has spent the majority of his career in England, is keen on securing a move abroad after leaving Newcastle United. The former English international is set to be a free agent in the summer, and his camp is already looking for an ideal destination for the former Atletico Madrid full-back.
Trippier joined the Magpies at the start of 2022 in a deal worth £12 million, and he has been an integral part of Eddie Howe’s setup since. The English full-back has been involved in a total of 157 matches and has contributed towards 33 goals.
Despite being 35, he has still had a very important role in the team in the ongoing campaign. The veteran right-back has been involved in 34 matches, and he has racked up close to 3,500 minutes. While he still has a bit of football left in him, Trippier’s time at Newcastle United is coming to an end.
With his contract running out, both parties have decided to move in different directions. With the English international set to be available for free, a number of clubs in England want to sign him while the Tyneside outfit set about signing him replacement.
However, Trippier does not intend to play in the Premier League. The Englishman has spent the majority of his career in his homeland, with a spell at Atletico Madrid from 2019 to 2022, the only exception. He is keen on experiencing another league, and as per the report, MLS and the Saudi Pro League are set to open their doors for the 35-year-old.
There are a number of clubs from across the globe that want the 35-year-old in their ranks; as a result, he certainly won’t have any shortage of options. While Premier League clubs value his experience, Trippier wants to try something different in the final phase of his career.
Since the former Tottenham star is on massive wages at the Tyneside club, his departure will make room on their wage bill, allowing them to go after some of their top targets. Recent reports have linked him with a move to Ligue 1, with AS Monaco keen on signing him.
