Everton interested in signing Cristhian Mosquera, loan exit possible

Everton are interested in Cristhian Mosquera if Arsenal make him available on loan ahead of the summer window.

Everton are interested in strengthening their backline and could move for Arsenal’s Cristhian Mosquera. According to Sports Boom, the Gunners are evaluating the idea of loaning the Spanish defender, with the Toffees seen as leading the race alongside a few in England and a handful across Europe.

Arsenal made the opportunistic signing of Cristhian Mosquera in the summer, taking advantage of his contractual situation at Valencia and paid only a fraction of what he might have cost for the talent that he is. The Spaniard took little to no time in settling into Mikel Arteta’s highly intense and complicated tactical system, as he is one of the first names on the substitutes’ bench.

However, the Gunners could view a loan move in the summer as a valuable idea to help Mosquera gain regular game time elsewhere. The move could be designed to develop the defender further rather than selling him right now, although should they consider the latter, it would require a fee of at least €45–50 million to test their resolve.

Arsenal are already looking at new defensive options, amid links to RB Leipzig’s Castello Lukeba, among other names. Should a new defender arrive in the summer, the Gunners might have to part ways with another name, as Mosquera could be made available on loan. They are still keen to develop him and potentially increase his valuation to around the €60 million mark.

A host of teams are keen, including Everton, as David Moyes seeks a new defender in the window to drastically improve his backline. There are other European sides keen on the idea of taking the 2025 signing on loan, while Bournemouth are also reportedly interested in the Spaniard, given they will lose Marcos Senesi in the summer.

Does Everton suit Cristhian Mosquera?

From a development standpoint, Moyes might be in a position to offer a talent like Mosquera tremendous minutes at Everton, which makes the match sensible. Mosquera has not managed to break the partnership between the formidable William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães, and he would need starting minutes next season.

Everton could consider the future of Michael Keane, as Mosquera could be a short-term fix to replace him. Should the Toffees make the move and the Spaniard performs admirably, they could also have a good shot at signing Mosquera permanently next season, although Arsenal have shown no plans to part ways with the 2025 signing permanently at this moment.
