According to a report by French outlet L’Equipe, Everton and Leeds United are interested in VfL Wolfsburg striker Mohamed Amoura. The two Premier League clubs are keen on reinforcing their offensive units by signing a centre-forward in the upcoming transfer window.
With Wolfsburg struggling this season and closing in on suffering relegation from the Bundesliga, a mass exodus may be on the cards this summer. However, Die Wolfe will unlikely recoup the €40 million they wish to recoup from the Tahir native’s departure, and €30 million may be a more realistic valuation for the player.
Mohamed Amoura has established himself as one of the most reliable strikers in the Bundesliga since joining VfL Wolfsburg from Union Saint-Gilloise. Die Wolfe initially signed the Tahir native on loan in July 2024 before completing a permanent move in 12 months. The 25-year-old was exceptional in his debut season but has suffered a dip in form this term, like the rest of the team.
Amoura has still managed a decent tally of eight goals and four assists in 26 Bundesliga outings. Meanwhile, the Algerian striker’s stock remains high despite his dip in form, with Everton and Leeds United hoping to sign him from Wolfsburg this year. Meanwhile, the relegation-threatened Bundesliga club will hope to recoup around €40 million from his departure.
Everton’s interest in Mohamed Amoura is understandable. The Toffees are scouring the market for a striker, as Beto and Thierno Barry have not been consistent enough this season and have only shown flashes of brilliance. Several candidates, including Ivan Toney, have thus emerged on Everton’s wishlist, with Amoura also a viable target.
As for Leeds United, Daniel Farke has several strikers in his squad, with Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin impressing in fits and starts. However, Joel Piroe faces an uncertain future at Elland Road, and the Leeds United head coach needs a more consistent centre-forward, making Amoura an option worth considering.
Considering Amoura may be available for only €30 million in the summer transfer window, the 25-year-old Algerian international is an appealing target for Everton and Leeds United. A change in scenery may also bring the best out of the player, and a move to the Premier League may be on the cards.
