Official I Frédéric Guilbert extends Nantes contract

FC Nantes have officially announced the extension of defender Frédéric Guilbert’s (31) contract for a further two seasons.

Having joined on a free transfer last winter following the termination of his contract with Italian club US Lecce, who no longer required his services, the French full-back will continue his time with Les Canaris until 2028.

This is a testament to his unwavering dedication, especially as the Breton club was recently relegated to the second division following their 17th-place finish in Ligue 1 at the end of the 2025–26 season. This is no cause for concern for Guilbert, who was quick to thank Nantes, without whom he “would never have managed to overcome” the difficult times he faced at the start of the season (0 appearances in 22 league matches).

An experienced player, the former Strasbourg man is a major asset in helping Nantes return to the top flight of French football as early as next season.
