With the Ligue 1 season now over, it is expected that Olympique de Marseille will step up their attempts to hire a new manager. Habib Beye remains in his post, however, he is hanging by a thread. The former Stade Rennais manager succeeded Roberto De Zerbi in February but failed to meet his objectives, which were qualifying for the UEFA Champions League and reaching the semi-finals of the Coupe de France.
As per a report from L’Équipe, Marseille have contacted Bruno Genesio, whose contract at Lille OSC is up this summer, and Adi Hutter, who has been out of work since leaving AS Monaco in October. Both have the advantage of being on the market.
That is not the case for Christophe Galtier, still under contract at Neom SC until 2027. OM have, however, made enquiries about his contractual situation at the Saudi club, L’Équipe understands. Former Paris Saint-Germain and Lille manager Galtier is currently around Marseille, his native region, and could use the opportunity to discreetly meet with the OM hierarchy.
With Les Phocéens struggling financially, however, Galtier’s contract situation could be a deterrent, although, with the war ongoing in Iran and the subsequent scaling back in sports funding from the PIF, the situation is complex and could evolve.
