Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson will play their final games for Liverpool when they welcome Brentford to Anfield on Sunday.
Liverpool will aim to confirm a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League when they host Brentford at Anfield on Sunday evening. Arne Slot has received positive updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s final game of the 2025/26 campaign.
Alisson Becker and Alexander Isak have resumed training this week, and they will be in contention to take on Brentford. Wataru Endo may also feature after returning from a foot injury. Additionally, Jeremie Frimpong is available after missing the Premier League clash with Aston Villa due to an unspecified issue.
So, Stefan Bajcetic, Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni, and Hugo Ekitike are the only players in the treatment room, with the quartet recovering from long-term injuries. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Slot provided fitness updates on Alisson and Isak.
The Liverpool head coach said, “Ali will train with us today [Friday], so that’s positive. Alex trains for the first time with us today [Friday], parts of what we are going to do. So, to a certain extent both positive. That’s actually it.”
Meanwhile, during his press conference, Slot responded to questions about Mohamed Salah’s recent social media post, which hinted at discontent with the Dutchman’s style of play.
Slot said, “No, I don’t think it’s that important what I feel about it. What is important is that we qualify for the Champions League [on] Sunday and I prepare Mo and all of the rest in the best possible way and the whole team to be ready for the game on Sunday. That is what matters.”
“I was very disappointed after our loss against [Aston] Villa because a win would have given us qualification for the Champions League. And now there’s one game to go, which is a vital one for us as a club.”
Alisson Becker should return between the sticks on Sunday, with Liverpool lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Brentford. The backline will feature Curtis Jones, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, and Andrew Robertson.
As for the midfield unit, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch will pair up in the double pivot, with Alexis Mac Allister reprising the no. 10 role. Finally, Alexander Isak will lead the line for the home side against Brentford, with Florian Wirtz and Mohamed Salah completing the numbers in the offensive unit. However, Cody Gakpo will spearhead the Reds’ attack is Isak if not fit enough to feature from the get-go.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Jones, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch; Salah, Mac Allister, Wirtz; Isak
