Angers eye free agent Anthony Lopes as summer signing

Angers SCO are reportedly making Anthony Lopes (35) their top summer target for the goalkeeper position, according to Ouest-France.

With his contract at FC Nantes coming to an end, the player, who has made 539 professional appearances, is seen as the ideal replacement for Hervé Koffi (29), who has had a remarkable season with SCO but whose loan from RC Lens expires next June.

Also being tracked by ESTAC Troyes, who were recently crowned Ligue 2 champions and have therefore been promoted to Ligue 1, Lopes would not be averse to staying in the Nantes area – which would be possible if he joined Angers. Although he has had a difficult collective season, notably marked by Nantes’ relegation to the second division, the former Olympique Lyonnais goalkeeper has nonetheless delivered some fine individual performances.

A first-team regular in all 31 league matches he played this season (17 of them as captain), Lopes kept six clean sheets and conceded 51 goals.
