Official | Dante to leave OGC Nice to become manager of Bayern Munich’s U23s

Dante’s (42) playing career ended on a positive note on Friday as OGC Nice beat AS Saint-Étienne (4-1) to retain their place in Ligue 1 for next season.

10 years after joining Nice, he will leave the club, as confirmed on Tuesday. The Brazilian has been taking his coaching badges while playing for the Ligue 1 side and has planned a career in management. Speaking earlier in the season, he alluded to the possibility of remaining at Nice and potentially coaching in the youth set-up.

However, ultimately, he will join Bayern Munich. He will coach the Bundesliga side’s U23 team. In his final season with Le Gym, Dante struggled with knee problems, which restricted him to just 19 appearances in all competitions.

Overall, he played 329 times for Nice, more than at any other club. He played 133 times for Bayern Munich, where he won the UEFA Champions League and four Bundesliga titles. He will now return to Bavaria.
