Official | Anthony Lopes joins SCO Angers

SCO Angers have signed Ligue 1 veteran Anthony Lopes (35) on a free transfer, following the expiry of his contract at FC Nantes.

Lopes, who came through the ranks at Olympique Lyonnais and played with Les Gones for almost his entire career, made his first transfer last summer, joining Nantes on a free transfer. Despite some strong performances, he could not prevent Les Canaris from making the drop into Ligue 2.

He is now on the move once again. The Portugal international (14 caps) has signed for SCO Angers. The club confirmed on Monday that he has signed a two-year deal with the club. The Portuguese shotstopper brings a wealth of experience. Over the course of his career, he has played 427 times in Ligue 1.

He joins Le Sco who last season were thankful to RC Lens loanee Hervé Koffi. The Burkina Faso international had the best post-shot-expected-goals figure in Europe’s top five leagues. Big gloves to fill for Lopes.
