Auxerre set to sign Luton Town’s Christ Makosso

AJ Auxerre are reportedly on the verge of signing Luton Town player Christ Makosso (22), according to reports from journalists Ben Jacobs and Sacha Tavolieri.

Under contract with the Haters until 2029, the Brazzaville, Congo-born player is said to have reached an agreement with AJA. A transfer worth around €1.5m, including bonuses, is therefore expected to be finalised.

Having previously played for FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, the defender spent the second half of the 2025-26 season on loan at Oxford United. Although he started five of his six appearances at the end of winter, Makosso finished the season on the bench, having not played a single minute since 6th March.

A Congolese international with five caps, the 1.92-metre-tall player will now move to France to try to relaunch his career under Will Still, who was recently appointed as Auxerre’s manager. In doing so, he could become the Burgundian club’s second summer signing, following Xiangxin Wei (18), whilst the club is also expected to confirm the arrival of Arthur Piedfort (21) from KVC Westerlo shortly.
