Official I Monaco’s Aladji Bamba joins Newcastle in a €40m deal

Newcastle United officially announced on Friday the signing of AS Monaco’s Aladji Bamba (20) on a five-year contract, running until 2031.

The deal is a major one, as it will bring in a substantial sum for the Monaco management – specifically €41m, bonuses included. The club will also retain a percentage of any future transfer fee.

Having joined from Blois in 2021, Bamba worked his way up through the various youth ranks at ASM before breaking into the first team, for whom he made his debut in August 2025. By the end of last season, the talented midfielder – a French Under-20 international (seven caps) – had racked up a total of 25 appearances, contributing two assists.

For AS Monaco, who need to boost their coffers this summer, the sale of Bamba is set to be the first of what promises to be a busy transfer window, with the departures of Folarin Balogun (25) and Maghnes Akliouche (24) due to be finalised in the coming weeks.
