Liverpool are on the verge of signing Brighton & Hove Albion attacking sensation Yankuba Minteh before the end of the summer transfer window.
Yankuba Minteh has agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with Liverpool, but a club-to-club agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion is yet to be finalised, as per Fabrizio Romano via Caught Offside.
Meanwhile, according to an update on Footy Africa, talks between the two clubs have advanced, with the outlet reporting that the next 24 hours could prove critical. Minteh has emerged as one of Liverpool’s concrete options as the club looks to add two wingers this summer.
Bradley Barcola remains the priority target, but Liverpool are determined to bring in another attacking option, with Minteh firmly on their shortlist. Barcola is primarily seen as their new left-winger, while they are looking at Minteh as an option for the right flank following the departure of Mohamed Salah at the end of last season.
The 22-year-old is reportedly keen on joining the Merseyside club. His desire to move to Anfield is understood to be influenced by the success of African players at Liverpool, particularly Salah and his idol, Sadio Mane.
Striking a deal with the Seagulls has proved difficult. The Reds have already submitted two offers for Minteh in the last 48 hours, worth approximately £50 million and £60 million respectively, but both proposals have been rejected by Brighton & Hove Albion.
Their £70 million-plus valuation leaves the Merseyside club with a £10-20 million gap to close. Despite the gap in valuations, talks are continuing, and there is optimism among the parties that a deal can eventually be reached.
Minteh’s representative, Bakary Bojang, remains closely involved in the negotiations and has also partnered with CAA Stellar as efforts intensify to facilitate the move. The Gambian international joined Brighton in 2024 and has since developed into an exciting Premier League winger, contributing seven goals in 36 appearances last season.
Minteh’s versatility appeals to Liverpool; he can operate on either flank, despite preferring the right wing, a flexibility the Reds value for reshaping their attack. The 22-year-old would give the new-look attack another explosive option capable of stretching defences and creating chances from wide areas.
For now, personal terms are not an obstacle for Liverpool. Minteh wants the move and has agreed to a five-year contract with the Merseyside club, but the Reds still need to convince Brighton & Hove Albion over a late move.
