The first-round draw for the 2026-27 Copa del Rey takes place on Monday 5 October at 13:00 CEST, with 112 teams set to discover their opening opponents. SPORT reports that 116 clubs are involved in the edition overall, with FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid and Real Sociedad entering at the round of 32 because of their participation in the Spanish Super Cup.
The draw will be held in the Luis Aragonés auditorium at the Ciudad Deportiva de Las Rozas. In Spain, it can be watched free on the Spanish Football Federation’s official streaming platforms, with Teledeporte and RTVE Play also offering open coverage.
SPORT is providing minute-by-minute updates and the draw results. The 13:00 start gives clubs and supporters a clear first marker in a Spanish football calendar that also includes the league campaign and the season’s Clásico fixtures.
The first-round draw includes 16 teams from Primera División and 22 from Segunda División, alongside clubs from lower categories. The 112-team draw field is not the full tournament entry: the four Super Cup participants are excluded at this stage and join at the round of 32, bringing the edition’s total to 116.
The draw is directed rather than entirely open. Teams from lower divisions are paired with opponents from higher categories, while geographical proximity is taken into account when the ties are formed. That gives the opening round its characteristic mix of top-flight visitors and lower-level clubs, without requiring every pairing to be determined solely by the draw of the balls.
Real Racing are among the Primera División clubs in the draw. Their presence underlines the range of divisions represented before the four Super Cup sides enter later in the competition.
The first-round ties are scheduled for 27, 28 and 29 October. The draw therefore settles the opening match-ups well ahead of the games themselves, while Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético and Real Sociedad wait until the round of 32 to begin their Copa campaigns.
