Manchester United line up €60 million move for Conor Gallagher

Manchester United are preparing a €60 million offer to bring Chelsea academy graduate Conor Gallagher back to the Premier League.

Having reinforced their attack in the summer, Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are now looking to add more quality to their midfield in 2026. The Red Devils have identified Atletico Madrid midfield star Conor Gallagher as a priority target.

According to a report from Fichajes, the Manchester-based giants are lining up a €60 million move to bring the Chelsea graduate back to his homeland. Gallagher is looking for more prominence, and Atletico certainly have a big decision to make; they could either look to keep him or cash in on him.

After coming up the ranks at Chelsea and making a name for himself while playing for the London club’s first team, Gallagher made the move to Spain in the summer of 2024. The Blues were struggling to balance their books, and since he was an academy graduate and would represent a hundred per cent profit, they ended up cashing in on him.

Despite not being a regular starter, he did have an impressive debut campaign. In his 50 outings, he racked up over 2,500 minutes and contributed towards 10 goals. He was equally effective in a central role as well as out wide on the left.

While he had an impressive start, the 25-year-old still hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular starter under Diego Simeone. As a result, his future has often been a big talking point.

Gallagher to join Manchester United?

Manchester United are one of the clubs that are keen on signing the former Chelsea star. They were interested in a loan move during the summer, but Atletico turned it down. The Red Devils are now set to return with an improved offer.

They are looking to secure his services on a temporary basis with a significant buy option worth close to €60 million. The Red Devils believe Gallagher has all the qualities needed to fit into Amorim’s system. His versatility could come in handy, along with his exceptional passing range and high work rate.

United are gearing up to make a move in the winter window, and it will be interesting to see if they can convince Atletico as well as the player. While Gallagher could be keen on a return to England, as it will improve his chances of making it to the national team squad, convincing the Spanish giants to sell an important asset mid-season won’t be easy.
